Woodley Light Operatic Society is an amateur musical society in Woodley, Berkshire, performing two musical shows each year. This is usually a summer musical and a winter operetta - everything from Cole Porter to Gilbert and Sullivan.
WLOS has been putting on shows since 1968, and, with loyal audiences coming back each time, continues its tradition of combining high standards with lots of fun for its members.
Membership is made up of people of all ages and occupations, with a wide range of experience from beginners to those with many years of doing shows.
New members are always welcome and there are all sorts of ways to get involved. Most members are singers/actors/dancers, but others also join to get involved in set design and building, lighting, costumes, stage management, make-up, front-of-house when the show is on, etc.
We rehearse on Tuesdays (chorus 7:30-10pm) and Thursdays (principals 7.30-10pm), with a few Sunday rehearsals thrown in for good measure nearer the date of the show.
Performances normally take place either at the Kenton Theatre, Henley-on-Thames, or at Woodley Theatre, Oakwood Centre, Woodley.
