The Audition Process
WLOS has customary practices in how it runs auditions. The following provides a guide to those customs,
so that on the day there is awareness of what we expect of auditionees:
- Any member of the society is allowed to attend auditions whether auditioning or not.
Non-members are not allowed without the prior consent of the Committee.
- At the start of auditions for a part, all auditionees for that part will be asked to move to the area
outside the hall.
- Individuals may be called in to audition with others, and, depending on the number of people per part,
may be asked on one or more occasions.
- Auditionees can only return to the hall when all have auditioned for the part being auditioned.
- Individuals may be asked to stand in for parts for which there are no auditionees.
- Where a part is not cast, a folLow -on audition will be held, open to all.
- Attendance at rehearsals is crucial to the success of any show, so advance knowledge of availability
as requested in the Audition Form helps the production team make planning decisions.
- Auditions are usually on a Sunday afternoon, with results being posted that evening.
- Use of books is allowed; however, individuals should have a good working knowledge of the parts they
are auditioning for.
- In identifying rehearsals you may not be able to attend, base it on every Tuesday and Thursday
up to show week. Depending on circumstances, some Sunday rehearsals may be called towards the end of the
schedule.
- Even if you are unsuccessful it is hoped you will still want to be in the show in some capacity.
